Attorney Shawn Flaherty is the founding partner of Flaherty Fardo Rogel & Amick and brings 40 years of legal experience to the firm. His practice is focused on serious personal injury litigation, with a particular emphasis on car and truck accident cases.
Shawn is widely respected for his strategic insight and negotiation skills, often resolving complex cases that others believed could not be settled. He has been a featured speaker at numerous continuing legal education (CLE) seminars on the art of settlement and mediation, and is known for his calm, thoughtful approach to high-stakes litigation.
Over the course of his career, Shawn has helped clients obtain multiple million- and multi-million-dollar recoveries in a wide range of injury cases — including those involving tractor-trailer crashes, ATV accidents, and highway collisions. He has developed a particular interest in truck accident litigation involving violations of the Federal Hours of Service regulations, where fatigued or overworked drivers pose serious risks to public safety.
In addition to his legal work, Shawn brings valuable business and political experience to the firm. In 2006, he was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (30th District), where he served with distinction. His background in both law and public service gives him a unique ability to advocate for clients and navigate complex systems.
A lifelong resident of Allegheny County, Shawn is the son of the late Mayor Pete Flaherty, one of Pittsburgh’s most beloved public figures. He continues his family’s legacy of service by fighting for individuals and families throughout Western Pennsylvania.
